As 2018 comes to a close, year-end reports are shedding light on the latest industry trends. Arizona continues to rank amongst the top on best-of lists, including U.S. moving destinations, technology hot spots and best states for business. Here’s a quick rundown of why so many leaders and professionals are making Arizona their new home.

1. Affordable Living

A recent report from Forrester listed Phoenix as a top-15 destination for technology pros. Why? A big reason is the affordability of this market. California’s cost of living continues to rise and it is predicted that more businesses will look elsewhere in search of lower operating and labor costs. Arizona’s close proximity to California also makes it a highly sought-after destination.

2. Job Opportunity

According to the Governor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Budget, Arizona’s total employment is at an all-time high with nearly 240,000 new jobs created since 2015. The state Office of Economic Opportunity announced earlier this year that Arizona is expected to outpace the nation in terms of job growth with an annual growth rate of 1.7 percent. By 2026, it is anticipated that the state will add over 500,000 net new jobs and is likely to see an influx of 1 million residents.  If you haven’t thought about moving to Arizona, it’s time to jump on the bandwagon.

3. Business-Friendly Climate

Overall, Forbes ranks Arizona as the seventeenth-best state for business. The state has taken steps in recent years to build what it calls a “minimalist regulatory environment.” This includes streamlining the tax collection process to ease the burden on new business owners. It also means becoming more efficient for businesses to locate and expand in the Arizona market.

4. Weather

Sorry, but we had to include it. For those who live here, you may be tired of hearing about Arizona’s beautiful winters or endless sunshine. But let’s just be honest – this is a legitimate reason to live here. Warm summers are counteracted by thrilling water parks and short drives to cooler temps in the mountains. And our mild winters make outdoor activities a year-round thing. We often take it for granted, but weather plays a major factor when people are selecting their next career move.
